This year has been especially warm. Warm and… wet. Like one of those winters you forget that it’s actually winter because you’re wearing shorts… all the time… Not my favorite. But as I grumbled and complained about this warm, rainy, yucky winter, I remembered my mantra for this year. “Sow and Reap”. I decided to reap joy instead of grumpiness. So, I took my son out in the rain, and we PLAYED. It was so fun! We were soaking wet under our rain gear, and it took 4 days to dry out our boots full of water, but it was worth it; every. single. moment. I’m not sure I could get bigger genuine smiles out of this kid. It just made me happy.
So, capture tip #1. Observe the moment. Study your child, think about what tells their story, and look for joy in the midst of dreary. These are some of the images from that day. It was grey, and yuck outside, but his expression, his joy, his boots in the water, I wanted to remember you can always find joy in the rain. I wanted to remember how he stomped, and sloshed, and carried his umbrella. How he walked only where the water was, and his smile as his boots hit the water.
Love him to pieces!
What are you sowing today?
